Switching gloves...

My new project: the Twisted Stitch Gauntlets from Deborah Newton (IK, Holiday Gifts 2007). I had problems with the pattern of the Cabled Gloves (mostly with the twists at the beginning of the rows. I haven't figure out yet how to resolve the problem) and decided to switch to Deborah's gauntlets.
The pattern is very simple and clear. I just found a little glitch on the 21th and 22th rows of the wrist chart (due to the p2tog an easily fixed). Watch the "M" in the hand chart : the new stitch is made on the purl stitch that is at the right or at the left of the "M" (I don't know if I'm clear, here!).

Automn greyness on a red rising sun

Since I became a raveler (on september 27th), I have to admit that I lost a few hours at night, browsing through the hundreds of pages of patterns, yarns, people, forums, etc. In the last two weeks, since I'd come back from Vietnam, I started to take photos of my old and new projects and downloaded them on my Ravelry page.

In a thread of one of the numerous forums that you can find on the site, someone asked the knitters if they'd abandoned their blog since they were on Ravelry. I would say "Yesss".

Sure Ravelry is an exceptional idea, a brilliant project and sure you can spend all your day watching gorgeous FOs, wondering when you'll find time to start something new since you're riveted to your screen!
So here I am, repentant, to add to my blog photos taken in the mist of my RR (Ravelry Rage)!

My MicroMuseum of Textiles

The souvenirs I love to bring back from my different travels are essentially textiles. Often a scarf and, if possible, some embroideries or weaved fabric. Here's my Vietnamese Micro-econo-Textile Museum:

Back from Hanoi

Hi everyone! Back from Hanoi. I didn't have time, yet, to post some photos of my trip. I will this weekend.
For the Textile's Lovers, one word to describe Hanoi: Silk, silk and silk. I bought a few meters as gifts. For me, I found four pieces of Hmong (the name of the tribe means "Human being" or "Free people") embroideries and appliqués to add to my personal "world textile's encyclopedia". One of these reminded me of XVIIth century elizabethan appliques which looks like cloisters or lattices. My vietnamese experience brought back memories of nights dedicated to embroidery. Perhaps I'll give it another try...

I know...

I know... I've been a bad blogger these last days. No posts. Not a lot of knitting except for the "flighting scarf" and an alpaca cardigan I'm desperately trying to finish.
My paper for the conference is still on my working table and my grant too. So... no knitting and no posts for a few days... A "very bad blogger", indeed...

Treasury of Books III

When it comes to patterns, I do a lot of researches on the web. My favorite sites are The Knitting Pattern Central and Garnstudio. There's no doubt that the availability of free downloadable patterns facilitate the life of the CK (contemporary knitter), but, sometimes, I find some books that suit my hunger for very classic patterns or, on the contrary, very original patterns. On the shelves, three pattern books and two designing books :

plus one (not yet there) I hope to receive as a Christmas gift!

Bonne lecture!
